Speech, Speech

Well the excitement of winning a commendation in the international Professional Wedding Photography Awards is almost over, but I did bring  on  a little smile to myself  this morning  thinking back!!

I wondered in all the excitement  what would happen if I had actually won the main  prize? Would I have to attend the London Do? Would I have to make a speech? Oh No What would I say? - Well I thought I would tell them of the last wedding  I did in London.

I lived in North London  for over 14 years  and know it well - but South London!!!  different ball game. I am based in Rossendale in Lancashire and was asked to photograph a chinese couples wedding in Peckham and then into China Town that night . Brill I thought.

I found my way to Peckham  and did the usual photos before being asked by the couple if they could have some photos on Peckham common. No Problem - however the couple asked me and the video man from Rochdale!!(the only 2 English speaking people there) if we could take Mum and Dad in my car? -again No Problem.

The Bride and Groom drove off and asked us to follow 'in convoy' unfortunately Mum and Dad refused to get in the car with us two!!! No-one spoke English and with the main car disappearing into the distance things didn't look good!!  it took 5 minutes to persuade them to get in.

The Bride and Groom had vanished - No mobiles - No contact!!!   - I had lost the Bride and Groom!!!!

We drove around for 20 minutes (with a convoy of 4 cars) without any luck  when I noticed a really nice spot for photographs. I thought we would try the little dirt lane as one last chance!! Low and behold we found them.
I have no idea what was said in the 10 minute Chinese discussion, but I have never been so glad  to see my Bride and Groom.

Thank You.
